Featured Gulls Girl
Gulls are a ice hockey team based in San Diego, USA. Originally
from a small suburb of Los Angeles, Samira moved to San Diego
for a taste of big city life. We are glad she made the move
because 20 year-old Samira adds another dimension to this already
diverse team. Now a sophomore at Grossmont College, she has been
ice-skating since the age of nine. "I was watching figure skating
in the Olympics, turned to my mom and said, 'I want to do that!'
Samira was a natural and found herself succeeding in numerous
competitions. "It took a lot of dedication, especially from my
parents." A normal day for Samira would start with a 5:00am
practice. She would change her clothes in the car while her mother
drove her to school. Another workout in the afternoon…homework,
food, and finally sleep! When Samira entered high school she
longed for a "normal" teenage lifestyle. She changed her focus
to dance and cheerleading.
