San Sebastian International Film Festival
Iranian film director Bahman Ghobadi receives
the 'Golden Shell' award from San Sebastian's
International Film Festival president of the
jury Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa during
closing ceremony

Bahman Ghobadi's Kurdish-language feature
"Turtles Can Fly," an unflinching look at
children trying to survive on the
Iranian-Turkish border, won the 52nd San
Sebastian International Film Festival's
top honor, the Gold Shell, on Saturday night.
"It impressed all the members of the jury that
a film that tells this story was charged with
such humanity, poetry and, at times, even humor,"
jury chairman Mario Vargas Llosa said.
